Common Ground Center is excited to launch its first summer day camp for children (ages 6 - 12) in the Addison and Chittenden County region. We’re using all the tricks we’ve learned from over 20 years of family camp programming and our latest successes with vacation camp to bring these lucky campers a once in a lifetime summer experience on 700 acres of fields, forests and meadows.
Using a traditional summer camp model, the program has 4 major focus areas: Nature Exploration, Artistic Expression, Cooperation and Physical Recreation. Each age group has an assigned cabin as a base camp for the week. Campers and counselors will use the cabins as their morning meeting space and during quiet time. Campers will choose between a wide variety of activities while at Common Ground, including swimming, arts & crafts, archery, soccer, wilderness skills, basketball, hiking, tennis, and many more. The goal is for each camper to take a step outside their comfort zone, learn something new and have a blast doing it. The culminating event of the week is an all-day field trip on Friday to a surprise local area attraction.
As a bonus, our eldest campers will be invited to participate in an overnight on Thursday night of the week. The overnight group will be treated to a tour of the skies by volunteers from The Vermont Astronomical Society, s’mores, campfire activities and more.
