2010 Chinese Culture Weekend
Friday, August 27th to Sunday, August 29th

Would you and your family like to learn more about Chinese culture?

If so, the Chinese Culture Weekend is the place for you. Families will get a chance to relax, make friends, participate in camp-type activities and learn more about China and its culture in our lovely valley nestled beneath the Hogback Mountains.

While most families who come to Chinese Culture Weekend have adopted children from China, everyone is welcome.

Join us for Cultural Fun in Vermont

This weekend is a nice combination of adult and kid programs. There are multiage activities as well and traditional camp fun like hiking, wading in the creek and s’mores. Enjoy the lazy days of July and . . .

  • Practice tai chi
  • Try your skill at Chinese brush painting
  • Learn about Chinese cooking styles
  • Discuss a book in the reading group
  • Sing nursery rhymes in Chinese
  • Eat delicious vegetarian Chinese food
  • Play Mah-Jongg
  • Explore Chinese Holidays
  • Tie a Chinese Knot
  • Create Shadow Puppets
  • Enjoy the night sky by the Campfire
  • Dance with Ribbons

“I expected a fun, relaxing weekend but had no idea how supportive an environment you’ve created. Thank you!” ~Brucie – Rhode Island

“The decorations were really nice. But best of all was the staff…” ~Edorah – Vermont

“Great variety of fun activities!” ~ Adam – Vermont

2010 Fees
(We are offering a sliding scale fee for adults this summer. Our programs generally cost more than our tuition reflects. We have had generous subsidies provided over the years but access to those funds is dwindling. For Chinese Culture Weekend, adults can pay anywhere from $200 (which reflects our typical yearly increase) to $300 (which is the more realistic program cost). We hope this option will allow people to pay what they can. Those who can pay more will help us make the most of our available scholarship funds.)

  • Fees include tenting, meals and most programs.
  • Adults $200-300; Teens $150; Kids (3-12) $125; Kids (2 and under) $45.
  • Cabins - $30 per bed, e.g. $90 for a 3-person cabin. Call and register early for your choice of cabins.
  • Non-refundable registration fee of $15.
